imonk on how to handle the Scripture

I just read the Internet Monk's post commenting on how we handle the Bible (found at http://www.internetmonk.com/archives/2005/02/019855.html#more).

I highly recommend it. He makes some great points. I'll try to whet your appetite by naming a few:

1. The Bible is a collection of books, not a collection of verses.
2. The Bible is not ultimately about solving your problems
3. The Bible is not meant to be used as a book of "magic phrases", by which he means that it is inappropriate to randomly turn to a verse in the Bible and expect it to speak to your current situation.

The more I read and hear about this Monk guy. The more I like him.

Nice summary.

I'm off to Chattanooga today. Then promptly to Atlanta to hear CK Williams (poet). Then back to Chattanooga. Then off to Savannah, GA on saturday morning.

Friday I'll be around. Didn't a really good Thai restaraunt used to have some kind of buffet on Fridays? *wink*

I'll give you a call, sexy. (don't tell the wife!)

Sweet! Don't forget, the buffet lasts from 11:30-12:23:07 exactly. Any later than that and you're just out of luck, so we should try and meet there early. Call me. Yo.

Excellent essay, thanks for posting this ADuff. I've read his stuff before, it's really good. I need to get into the habit of checking his site regularly.
